These biscuits are quick to pull together and are so much better than canned biscuits.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup COLD butter or shortening
1½-2 cups milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°
In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and salt
Cut up cold butter and add to flour mixture.
Using a pastry cutter, fork or two knives, cut the butter until it is in pea size chunks
Add 1½ cup milk. If the dough does not stick together, add a little bit more milk. You don't want these super moist so they won't roll, but they need to be moist enough to stick together.
On floured surface, dump out dough and gently knead the dough 4-5 times just to pull the dough together.
Roll dough out until ½" to ¾" thickness.
Using a biscuit cutter or sharp edge cup, cut out biscuits
Reroll the dough again and cut out more biscuits.
Repeat until all of the dough is used up.
Place on greased baking sheet or on well-seasoned baking stone
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
