Moist and Flavorful Classic Pumpkin Bread

My mom has been making this pumpkin bread for as many years as I can remember. Moist and flavorful, this is served at all of our holiday meals.

Course Bread
Servings 1 large loaf

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups canned pumpkin
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup each raisins and walnuts optional

Instructions

  1. Mix everything together in a large mixing bowl until well combined.

  2. Bake in 350°F oven for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean in the center.

  3. Remove from pan allow to cool on a wire rack.

Recipe Notes

Side note: Over the years, we have reduced the sugar down to two cups without any noticeable changes. Feel free to do the same if you want to cut down on the sugar load. 🙂
